Major Fundraising Saves Group's Facility
Customer: Sigma Nu Fraternity at Georgia Institute of Technology
Problem
- Time and heavy use had taken a toll on the Fraternity’s house, making it necessary to demolish the structure and begin fresh.
- Sigma Nu was in serious need of capital to build a new house.
- They had a goal of $2 million, an aggressive target by any standards.
Affinity Connection Solution
- Affinity Connection accepted the challenge, recognizing that the time was right for the fraternity to accomplish much more than raise money; it was time to change the dynamics of the chapter and re-engage the brotherhood.
- Affinity Connection worked closely with the alumni board to craft a new mission statement and plan “friend raising” activities, which included events for all ages and interests, ranging from poker parties to fishing outings.
- The company also recruited, coached and managed the volunteer class agents, who would play a pivotal role in the active solicitation portion of the campaign.
Results
- Sigma Nu Fraternity at Georgia Tech has realized its goal; the new fraternity house is under construction.
- They raised $2.3 million in the first nine months of the campaign and are still going strong.
- In addition, they have a strong annual giving program, a well-trained and committed volunteer network and universal undergraduate support.
